A PME Legend leather jacket is built to last a lifetime and only gets better the more you wear it. With the right care, the leather stays supple, keeps its color, and develops a unique look.
Below, you can see how to best take care of your leather jacket. We explain which care product is most suitable for the different types of leather. What’s important for every leather jacket: if your jacket gets wet, for example during a light rain shower, always let it dry naturally – never near a heater. And if you’re unsure about the effect of a care product, always test it first on a small, inconspicuous area on the inside of your jacket.
THE BASICS OF GOOD CARE
Wax protects and preserves the character of your leather jacket. Use wax to nourish the leather and protect it from moisture and wear. Apply it gently with a soft cloth and let it dry completely.
Tip: Don’t hang your jacket close to other garments while the wax is setting.
PROTECT YOUR LEATHER JACKET
A spray adds a water-repellent finish. Use it only outdoors and keep it away from children. Hang your jacket on a hanger, zip it up, and spray from about 30 cm away. Good ventilation is essential.
Tip: Use the spray only on smooth or thin, open leather such as sheepskin – not on lammy.
NOURISH YOUR LEATHER JACKET
Use conditioner to keep the leather nourished and supple. Massage it in gently with a soft cloth, using small circular motions. Avoid seams and lighter areas.
Tip: Apply at least once per season, or more often if you wear your jacket frequently or in wet weather. If the conditioner absorbs immediately, the leather needs extra nourishment.
EASY CARE & STORAGE
Wipe off dust and dirt with a slightly damp cloth. Let your jacket dry naturally, then hang it on a sturdy, rounded wooden hanger. Store it in a cool, dark place.
Tip: Always use a breathable garment bag for your leather jacket – never a plastic one.
