PME Flight Jackets

PME Legend pays tribute to the legendary cargo planes and the men who fly them. Both man and machine are at their most successful when wrapped in basic but rugged materials: simple, but effective. And this is exactly the aim behind the quality, craftsmanship and durability of the PME Legend leather jackets.

Leather made to last

Just like the original aviation jackets, our Sheepskin jacket and Hudson bomber jacket have been tested and manufactured to meet altitude and season-specific criteria. Due to the quality of materials and craftsmanship, specific care is needed. Follow the instructions below to ensure your new jacket retains its authentic, lived-in character, while lasting you a lifetime.

DO'S

  • If your jacket gets wet, make sure it is left to dry naturally. If it feels stiff after drying, apply leather wax with a clean, soft cloth.
  • Always hang your jacket on a plastic or wooden hanger with rounded shoulders – avoid metal hangers with sharp corners.
  • If you wish to store your jacket at the end of the season, hang it in a cotton bag so it can breathe.
  • If your suede or nubuck jacket has grease spots, rub the stain gently with a scouring block or soft piece of polyether.

DON'TS

  • Get it soaked: while it is indeed water-resistant, your jacket is not a raincoat and too much water is disastrous.
  • Use abrasives such as cologne or hair products while wearing your jacket, as they can negatively affect the leather.
  • Store in a warm closet: this will dry your jacket out.
  • Dry-clean your jacket. This can change the look of the leather and cause the color to fade.
  • Leave your PME Legend leather jacket in direct sunlight.

Caring for your... Sheepskin Jacket

A timeless aviation icon

The outside of our Sheepskin jacket is leather, and should be treated with leather wax every six months (or in the case of heavy wear – every month). If necessary, a waterproofing product should then be applied. Without taking these steps, the color of the leather will start to scuff and fade – but sometimes, this authentic look is exactly what is desired. The fleece lining of the jacket should be handwashed with wool detergent, and left to dry naturally. Another alternative is dry carpet shampoo and a vacuum cleaner.

Caring for your... Hudson Bomber Jacket

A true American Classic

Crafted from buffalo leather, the Hudson jacket is extremely durable – and this is largely due to the oil finish of the leather. Leather wax should be applied every six months (or more frequently with heavy wear) to ensure the leather stays supple and doesn't dry out. The fur collar is detachable, to allow for easy cleaning. As required, wash the collar by hand in wool detergent, and leave to dry on a flat surface. The collar of the Hudson jacket is also suitable for cleaning with dry carpet shampoo, as mentioned above.
